LES RAT even MORE FUN

Dear Larchmont RAT Race Participants and Supporters,

The entire RAT Race Committee would like to thank you all for making the 30th Annual RAT Race such a memorable and fun event. Congratulations to all of you who took up the challenge to run and made it to the finish line. We had more race participants than ever before, and Brick Field was hopping past dark--and would have likely hopped a bit longer were it not for some cool breezes, lightning , and thunder that prompted us to shut down a bit earlier than planned. We would especially like to thank our Honorary Chairman, Dr. Wood Selig, for his participation, along with Mayor Paul Fraim, State Senator Ralph Northam,  and our School Superintendent, Dr. Rick Bentley. Your presence and participation helped make our 30th celebration one for the record books.

We were also blessed to have several of the race organizers from the past on the course and at Brick Field, such as Carol Senechal, Elsie Holliday, Bobbi White, Alex Pincus, Mike O' Connor, Jessica Chesson, Maggie Moore, and Vicky Greco. We also had a runner, Kim Stewart, who ran in the very first RAT Race and ran again on Friday evening, winning 1st Place in her age category. As always our faithful teachers and staff from Larchmont School, led by Dr. Melise, turned out in force and teamed up with our PTA volunteers to make sure that everything went as smoothly as possible.

We could not hold the RAT Race without the tremendous amount of support we receive from the City of Norfolk, so special thanks must go to the great team of folks who provide our city services, led by our city manager, Marcus Jones, who is also a Larchmont parent. Finally, the RAT Race Committee would like to encourage all of you to continue to support the RAT Race throughout the year by patronizing our sponsors, who are listed below. When you are visiting one of our sponsors, be sure to mention that you appreciate their support of the Larchmont RAT Race, as we will want to gain their support for next year's race as well.

As soon as we are able to set a date for next year, we will post it on this website and once again start the countdown.
